I'm pretty much of the same opinion, but at this point....

I'd pay a good fab shop to finish it.

All that Artec and Ruff Stuff Specialties "stuff" is much nicer looking than "Bob's hillbilly garage" stuff.

Go to Auto Zone, etc., and have them pull the codes for free. That will point you in the right direction as far as needed service or parts replacement.

If the background wasn't there for context, that looks like a lot of Jeeps in and around NY city!

Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

got the fuel tank dropped and cleaned up the back half of the chassis. Also managed to get the front axle out and started clean up. We should be able to start welding and bending tube in the next couple weeks!

Cool, Eryc.  I'll be mocking up some triangulation for the front four link this weekend.

I've got most of the parts for the full hydro conversion now, and I have a question about the stub shaft that attaches to the hydro valve.  I expected it to have splines, but it doesn't.  From the pic's, looks like yours doesn't either - the u-joint slips over, and it's all held in place by a set screw?

127 today in Laveen.  But, low humidity made it "feel" like it was only 122 - so it's all "cool."

According to Weather Underground, officially 123 degrees today at the house,  Laveen.  We'll be cooling off tonight though, down to 85.

Very nice.  Looks a lot different without the leaf springs on there.  If you're heading North, I'll tag along.  I've done nothing to my rig yet - still waiting to hear from the IRS, post appeal.  I "won" half of what they said I owed, and now I'm waiting on word on the other half.   They're taking their sweet time to let me know about their latest decision, but I'm sure I'll win that appeal too, if I don't, back to the drawing board.  Just don't want to owe the govt. and the buggy at the same time  :shakehead:

Looks good to me so far.  Between work, travel, family visits and waiting for the right parts - I spent a year just putting tons under my  truck.  You've made good time.

I'm afraid to take the front of the rig apart for the 4 link project.  The only motivation is I've already done the rear, so I have some experience and expectations.  I bet I'll do what I've always done though, I think I'll get it done quickly and end up taking four times as long as I should.

Truggy/Buggy / Re: Which is stronger output for tcase 1410 or flange?
« on: April 19, 2017, 09:28:57 PM »
Angles aside, a 1410 allows for more flex....larger, more.  But a 1410 is uber tough.

Tough part, springs aren't the only part of the equation.  Vehicle weight, and valving?  That's all I know.  I run junk yard coils...

Never heard of hardening link material after welding either, I'm feeling uninformed.  I have some more to learn.
