Builds / Re: The Beast 2.0?

Engine is cleaned up. Installed new manifolds and PSC pump. We had to play musical vehicles and tires to get the blazer in the right position for the axle swap. Mounted all 4 bald treps and picked up all of the brake parts needed for rear discs. We are going to use a pair of almost new 2.5" lift springs for the front that were laying around. I just need to stop at Copperstate tomorrow for new pins and the front axles will get swapped sometime this week.

Got Optimus Primer's engine, trans, and doubler out. Engine is on the stand getting ready for a new PSC pump, manifolds, flexplate and a few other odds and ends that broke or failed. Luckily we have a TH400 in the shed already set up for a np203, so I just ordered an adapter. I will take the trans down to Sun Transmission this week to get a reverse manual valve body, stock rebuild, and new torque converter. Hoping to get the D60 out from under it next weekend and into the beast

Drug home project #3...........I may have a problem, but I couldn't pass up this opportunity

This rig is going to get thrown together fast with almost no money into it. Hoping to trail wheel it before the end of the year

Below is all of the parts we already have laying around

350 crate motor with Holley Fuel Injection
TH400 (needs rebuild)
NP203/205 doubler (needs adapter to trans)
Dana 60 front w/4.56 gears and locker, chromalloy shafts, PSC Hydro Assist
Shaved 14bff (came with the truck) I already have a line on a 4.56 14 bolt (needs disc brakes and ring turned down)
Suspension is all staying original. I just need to change out one of the front main leafs
We have a whole wiring harness set up for the 350 we will swap into this rig
I still have the old smittybuilt winch from my blazer
Going to add a few more supporting tubes to the roll cage. I have all of the tubing laying around the house.

Need to find seats and buy seat belts, but we might just use the Jeep seats until we find something cheap.
All of the plumbing will need to be done
Need a shifter for the trans
Also need to find a set of tires and wheels which will be where most of the money for the build goes.

This is the first time I have ever bent roof tubes down to meet the front A pillar. It was a huge pain in the a**. It looks good though. Once I get clarification from Ultra 4 tech, I am going to start on the rockers.

Had very limited time to work on the Jeep this weekend. I also fried my chopsaw blade and made all of my cuts with a grinder LOL. But it is starting to look like a race Jeep now. Good news is the house inspection for refinancing is today, so we should be able to dedicate way more time to the Jeep only now.

Picked up our freshly built C4 from Sun Transmission today. It has a new reverse manual valve body, 300M output shaft from Advance Adapters, and all the parts needed to handle up to 400HP. If you guys ever need any transmission work done, call up Jerry! He is a local shop in downtown Peoria who really understands our sport and what kind of abuse we put our cars through.

Spent most of the weekend working on the cage. I had to take apart the majority of it to get the C pillars slid over the sleeves and in place. I then reassembled everything and got it tacked again. Finished all of the main structure and started making all of the supporting tubes. This is where I stopped when my 2" hole saw got destroyed.

Got lucky and found someone selling these brand new Ruffstuff 8" housings. Saved us some time and money! Almost time to start laying everything out on the chassis table

Modified our fuel cell mount a little and welded the base to our floor plates. The fuel cell should slide right out the back once everything is said and done. Also got the front axle. Custom 9" housing built to old Dodge kingpin specs but driver's drop with Solid inner C's. This should fit the Yukon shafts I had already bought and we will be able to use all of the same outers we had already planned on using.

General / New Storage
« on: January 28, 2018, 11:31:54 PM »
Spent most of the weekend putting new storage boxes in the backyard. Not super exciting but it was probably entertaining to watch us try and kill ourselves! Things got pretty sketchy in multiple situations, but at the end of the day we have 2 new storage boxes in the backyard where our racecars will be parked.

Picked up a set of used tires for the Jeep. One is brand new and the others have 70% or more tread! Also picked up our plates fresh off the plasma table. Cleaned up the floor where they will go and burned the rears into place. Got a little more work done to the cage including bending the rear portions. They just need to be trimmed to fit

Finally got our custom, one off bell housing adapter in. It is the first one ever made! Going to drop it off at Sun Transmission tomorrow and the trans should be ready to go in a couple days.

We got the majority of the time consuming pieces done. The passenger's upper portion is done also, just didn't get it mocked in for the pic before it started raining.

Got sandwich plates drawn up along with "A" pillar tie ins. We will get those cut out this week

Been focused on the Jeep lately and been just waiting on parts for this project. Finally got our portals in from Jesse Haines! This is the key piece to our build. Should gain about 6" of ground clearance while keeping the belly low and reach 45 of steering front and rear

Got a 50 foot extension cord built so I could finish welding the jeep plating. Nate disassembled the dash and is working on labeling all of the wiring before removing the harness completely. Also managed to clean up all 5 wheels and get them painted

It is very nice! A little heavy for my taste, but it saves us months in design and plasma table time. Once we have a shop and plasma table, I'd prefer to build a lot of this stuff in house

Finished up our Artec Pinion guard/bridge and bolted on the new Ruffstuff diff cover!

When I ordered the Atlas, we hadn't torn the Jeep apart yet to measure the input shaft length. We took a guess at the 3 or 4 options and guessed wrong. Luckily it is easy to swap incase you are ever interested in buying an atlas with the incorrect input shaft!

I don't think WE Rock or Dirt Riot is going to be at Congress this year. The owner's wife died and is selling the land. Rich and Shelley are supposed to have the event location up any day now though.

Our goal is to make it to the first dirt riot, but I'm not very confident we can make it happen. Too many parts coming in late

Stayed up way too late last night assembling the 14 bolt outers. Ruffstuff 3/4 ton brackets which will also go in the front. Picked up a set of 5 wheels from Shawn. We will try to clean these up and make them look good! More parts for the front axle showed up. Can't wait till the axle arrives!!!
