Cocked-N-Locked Unlimited Chassis
« on: August 21, 2017, 04:01:55 PM »
This year we have competed in the entire Western W.E. Rock Series with plans to be at Nationals and Supercrawl. It is time for us to build a second car in hopes that we can get both cars to all of the competitions next year. That means this new chassis needs to be done before Congress in March.

Specs are:

Ford 2.3L Ecoboost  310hp/320ft lbs of torque
C4 reverse manual valve body
Atlas 2 Speed 3:1
Fabricated Toyota 8" Housings w/TrailGear Hi Pinion housings
Jesse Haines Hummer Portals front and rear
Hoping for 45-50 of steering
4 Link rear, 3 Link Front
108" Wheelbase
Rear engine, Rear steer, Single seat

The engine, controls, accessories, and fuel system showed up today!

Sounds like a good , what chassis base are you going with. Is it going to look similiar to the other one.

After talking to Jesse yesterday, he convinced me to step down to Toyota 8" housings and drop out. They will give us even more ground clearance, weigh less, cost a lot less, and he things they will hold up to 310hp just fine. Hopefully he is right!  :smokin:

I was wondering about the toyota housings. Should give you more clearance for sure. Ring and pinions will hold up?

that's what I am worried about.... I don't think they will hold up very long. Probably buy a spare 3rd

I think we got the engine to transmission issue figured out. The shop I bought the engine through is a Quicktime dealer. I have them working on a custom bell housing from a 2.3 to a C4. Picked up a C4 off craigslist as a builder!

So is torque converter going to be an issue? Or did you find someone to make one. What about adapter plate to transmission. Did you draw that up or having someone make that piece?

Found a company in Houston called Circle D specialties. They specialize in custom torque converters that they build from scratch in house for the newer mustangs. I should have the torque converter this week

There will be no adapter from trans to engine. Quicktime is building me a custom bellhousing. once I get the torque converter in, I need to mock it all up and give them the bellhousing length. Once I have that it will only take a week to finish the bellhousing and I can have the trans rebuilt. I also need to have the governor housing machined down.

Hopefully we have the engine, trans, and tcase all bolted together and on the chassis table after our elk hunt the 1st week of december

Been focused on the Jeep lately and been just waiting on parts for this project. Finally got our portals in from Jesse Haines! This is the key piece to our build. Should gain about 6" of ground clearance while keeping the belly low and reach 45 of steering front and rear
