Alcohol for Emissions
« on: September 14, 2016, 11:42:31 AM »
I gotta run my Blazer thru Emissions in the next few days. Bought some denatured Alcohol to add to the fuel. Read online it works.

Has anybody here tried this? Does it work?

it will help with NOx emissions. I don't know if it will help with CO. E85 also works well

Make sure its 100% pure, you dont want to use any diluted alcohol and essentially pour water in the tank. Also like Jake said, E85. 10-15% ethonol mix is supposed to be the best for emissions, any higher and the drop in co and hc emissions are offset by the exponential rise in nox. Soak the intake in carb cleaner and pour a coule bottles of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank. The Berryman B12 works great for this cause it contains alcohol, acetone, and methanol, the 3 things with the best track record for reducing emissions from a combustion engine.

I did a lot of research trying to cheat my Bronco through.....

Thanks for the info. Ran it thru emissions today after adding the denatured alcohol which has ethanol in it by the way, and passed with flying colors. The only thing that was kinda high was HC at idle. Showed 350, which was the standard,. Either way it's finally legal.
