If I had the money I would put a HP Dana 44 in the front and a 9" Ford in the rear! Cage it and then put gas in it and go wheeling!
It started life as a 1987 Samurai and turned into a Psychobilly Cadillac .
Wheel hard or stay home!
Build, wheel, break then repeat

Money does you no good when you cant find that darn HP D44 does it? Theres a few yards near my house, i can ask around for ya on a weekend if you still wanna try and find that front axle, but as you already know, odds of them having one is about the same as Jake asking out a women.

If money was no object I would call Campbell Enterprises and have them build a custom 2 or 4 seat car to my specs. Probably something along the lines of 514 CID built Cadillac or one of the new CTS motors, 4L80E, 4spd Atlas, Currie 60 front with 40spline 300m shafts, custom D80 or AAM rear axle, 5.38 gears, full hydro, etc, etc, etc.

If I had to do it to a rig I own I would probably rebuild the buggy I am building. Redo the cage with DOM or Chromo tube, built 500 caddy, built th400, atlas, 1 tons, linked front and rear.

I'd burn my Ford and start building a 4Runner!

I'd pay a good fab shop to finish it.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion, but at this point....
