Ruben, i'm really impressed with your attention to maintenance before you serious wheel it.  nice work and I am looking forward to playing with you and the rest of the animals.  Well almost all of them, sorry Lee.

Can I bring my Comanche to your house for a while and just let it sit next to your Cherokee.  I'm quite shure that something good would rub off on to her.

Thanks for the Props. My Attention to Maintenance must have started to slip cuz today she started spewing coolant from the weep hole on the Water Pump.  Right when I was about to leave  to work too  :punchballs: I've always been big on keeping my Vehicles well maintained so thanks again for the kind words.

Back to the Water Pump. Not really a big deal I was planning on going thru the cooling system right before summer, but the old Cherokee decided I needed to do it sooner.  So tomorrow I'll be doing the Water Pump with a flush And a new T-stat while I'm in there. Then right before summer I want to get rid of the plastic radiator, and pick up a brass one, preferably a 3 row.

Backroad, the Comanche is welcome to come visit the Cherokee anytime.

Well my next addition was gonna be the C-ROK brace, but i decided to hold off a bit. My Cherokee ticks like no buddy's business. Goes away at 1500 RPM, and sometimes i dont hear it while im driving at all.

Found these Cherokees are notorious for loose Fexplate Bolts. So i took the insp plate off and sure enough Loose Bolts. So i removed them and added Loctite and re-installed. Ticking still there, but still comes and goes. I believe i have a Cracked Flexplate. I decided its more important to change out the Flexplate than to buy the Frame Brace.

Then my Front end is still wondering a bit, and im sure the Bad Upper Control Arm bushings are not helping the matter so those are next on the list.

Anyway More to come

Awesome job man, I know I love my little 89 Cherokee very much. My only draw back is that I'm starting to miss having an auto instead of having a stick like I do now. But hey hopefully I'll be able to buy a 4 door truck sometime in the near future and then I'll just tow my Jeep where I want to be, take it out, wheel it and tow it home after I'm done. I love how it's looking so far man keep it up.

Some small Updates....

A friend from work had a Performance Suspension master bushing kit for my Jeep he let me have for $5. So i have the Bushing issue handled.

Yesterday i picked up a headliner for the Jeep. What a difference the headliner makes. The noise level inside the Jeep is way down which i like.

This Saturday i will be coating the roof with Elastaric roof coating. This coating is used for home roof's to dissapate heat. Its supposed to dissapate 35% of the heat from the Sun. i figure this will help out alot in the summertime to keep the interior of the Jeep as cool as possible.

Just a few things taken off my long list, but its getting there.

Started the Roof

Heres the finished product. Looks like white paint, but it actually rubberizes when dry. We'll see how it performs this summer.

Also swapped out my Upper Control Arm Bushings for the ones i got from a friend at work. Think they need to be changed. :rotfl:

Steers alot better. Im sure the Axle was moving around alot with how bad the Bushings were. Havent changed the Bushings on the axle yet. Need more time to get those done.

Looks good Ruben, never though of using that coating for automotive purposes. I'm curious to hear what difference it will make.

Installed the Urethane Bushings in the Upper Control Arms today. Thought it was gonna be a PITA, but the old bushings came out like they had butter all over them. So tomorrow ill be changing my UCA again but this time with better bushings. Hopefully the Bushings on the Axle come out as easy as the ones on the Arms.

Thanks, it's coming along. I just finished all the upper bushings. Now they are all Urethane, and my looseness in the front end is gone. As long as it continues to run and drive as good as it does my next goals are gonna be Gears which I need bad to get my mileage up, and  a 4.5" lift.

Stay tuned

for a while ive been wondering where im gonna put my CB and Antenna. Not many places on a Cherokee. Then a few days ago i started working on a Bracket to fit under the Left Rear Tailight, and here it is. Still need to permanently install/run the cable, and find a place in the Jeep to install the CB itself and wire it up.

On my '89 Cmanche, I mounted the CB on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel facing up towards the driver where I can see and use it very well. Wife says it doesn't bother her at all.

Mounted the antenna 'IN HARMS WAY' with a Wilson roof mount, but it worked well with my 10 meter.

The trans tunnel on the pass side seems to be the best place to mount the CB to me. I saw one where they mounted it behind the center consol but I need to be able to see it. So pass side trans tunnel it is.

Not sure if my bracket and Antenna will get in harms way, but I had a Whip fiberglass Antenna and had to put it somewhere. My reception sucks so I was looking at getting a Wilson, but I think I need to tune mine. Then maybe the reception will get better. IDK

Ok so last weekend i tackled the Oil Pan. Replaced the Oil Pan Gasket, and No more leaks or so i thought. Of course the Damn Drain PLug has to leak. So on my next Oil Change i will tackle that.

Also added my 1.75" coil Spring Spacers. Added more lift which i Love, The Jeep looks alot better now.

Did find one of the Brake Caliper bolts stripped out on the Passenger side so i will probably Helicoil the Knuckle this weekend to take care of that.

And i am doing some research on making my own quick disconnects for the Sway Bar. I have some Heim joints that will work i just have to make Brackets and measure everything out.

Anyway till nex time :headbang:

Idk about beating it to death, but if it breaks trying difficult trails it won't be such an issue when it just a Toy.
